New York City Nightclub on a Sunday Afternoon in New Rochelle

Our special Dance events at the New York City Nightclubs with wonderful live music ALWAYS happen on a weeknight and NEVER starts before 7pm.  We can never see everyone perform because we have to catch a train, or wake up early in the morning, or have to let the cat out... etc....

Soooooooooooo

I’ve decided to bring the New York City Nightclub to New Rochelle, Sunday afternoon

Master Musicians Haig Manoukian & Souren Baronian will provide the music for us to dance for and with each other.

Yes, I have finally joined the Facebook gang - you can visit my page and see reviews of workshops and some videos on my wall

“Be The Music”

Aszmara’s Dancing to Taxim Workshop with Master Musician Souren Baronian

Clarinet, Kaval and Dooduk - these instruments cry, laugh, wail, and inspire madness! Dancing to these instruments with their specific qualities and voices are explored in this very special workshop.  What a rare treat for dancers to have Master Musician Souren Baronian joining Aszmara as we find new ways of listening and understanding the taxim form, work on improvisational skills, connect with the musician’s voice, and to express ourselves in the emotional notes of the music.

Feel the Life in Live Music!

What a great time and wonderful learning experience we had during the NYC Intensive this September.  Percussionist Mal Stein said,  “Every dancer should take this course!”

"Be The Music"

Dancers praise Aszmara's signature workshop stating that

it has changed how they view and feel their connection to dancing.

With Insights into Music and Movement, Aszmara never fails to lead

dancers into finding new nuances in the Mind, Body and Spirit of Dance.

Workshops from 5 pm the 21rst to 5 pm the 23rd Include:

Improvisation

Work with the foundations of musical improvisation and grow as we feel the notes within.

Rhythm Play

Aszmara is most known for her amazing Zil playing -  She plays like a musician while her dancing is "in" the music.  Illuminate the rhythm inside the music and yourself.

Emotional Connectivity to the Music and your Audience

Pacing and Drama of your piece affects not only you but your audience as well.

By Connecting with the music, we create more meaningful dances.

By Connecting with the audience, we find new insights into ourselves.

Sensuous and Languid, Floor Work is one of the most demanding skills to acquire for this dance. It challenges you physically and when performed puts you in touch with your sensuous nature. Youth and a good back can take you only so far!
All levels of students will learn to increase their abilities and expression in the Beautiful Floor Work Workshop. This 3 hour workshop we will cover Great Stretches, Graceful Descents and Rising and What to Do once you are down there (and, please, what not to do!) Knee pads are recommended for this workshop.
